Overseas challenges are the perfect opportunity to see some of the worlds most stunning places and also gain a lasting sense of achievement. Not only will you be testing yourself physically and mentally but you will also be helping to fund the Martlets Hospice’s work.
We have selected 3 different overseas challenges for you to consider for 2009. Each trip is designed to challenge you and raise much needed funds for the hospice.
TANZANIA _ MOUNT KILIMANJARO
2nd –11th October 2009

The highest freestanding mountain in the world, Kilimanjaro is also the highest mountain on the African continent at 5896m. Its snow-capped summit rises high above the dusty African plains; huge permanent glaciers flow down from the summit, spectacular views and beautiful ice formations are the reward for pushing your limits both physically and mentally.
Our trek takes the less-trodden Machame route, allowing us to camp and fully appreciate the splendour of our surroundings and the clear night skies. The terrain changes as you ascend the mountain, passing through thick forest, moorland and scree en route to the highest point of the crater, Uhuru Peak. This is a challenging trek at altitude, climbing one of the most impressive and well-known mountains in the world.
EVEREST BASE CAMP TREK

If you have ever wanted to do an exhilarating challenge for charity here is your chance. The Martlets Hospice are looking for adventurous volunteers to trek one of the most famous trails to Everest Base Camp and if you raise enough in sponsorship you will get to take part for free! This trek has it all from awe inspiring views, to experiencing the local culture but what could be more satisfying than trekking on the highest mountain on earth!
